Irish Examiner features article on School Libraries in Ireland

On Monday June 5th, Jess Casey, the Irish Examiner’s Education Correspondent, profiled the research of Breege O’Brien (retired English and French teacher) and her sister Dr Shivaun O’Brien (Dublin City University Institure of Education). Both sisters researched school library provision in Connaught and found it to be lacking in quantity and quality. The article highlighted the paltry funding extended to schools from the Dept of Education and our outlier position in terms of international standards for school library provision. Just one service was the exception, unsurprisingly a JCSP library. The article can be accessed here
